GENOVA Repubblica (1528-1797) 5 Doppie 1642 sigle CSES - MIR 257/6 AU (g 33,36) Top pop, miglior esemplare certificato NGC, in slab MS 66 cod. 5786624-001. Nella ricca monetazione aurea genovese del Seicento spiccano questi multipli da 5 doppie battuti dal 1639 al 1697 ma con molte lacune nella serie degli anni. Il motivo di queste emissioni di alto peso (sono noti anche multipli fino a 25 doppie) è probabilmente dovuto alla necessità di battere più velocemente le grandi quantità dell'oro che ancora arrivavano a Genova che agiva da banchiere e finanziatore dei sovrani spagnoli. Questa moneta perciò, oltre che di grande interesse collezionistico, è molto importante da quello storico.
